PM Industrial experts have developed a methodology for screening, assessing and ranking objects for the implementation of polymer flooding technology
April 15, 2024
In the April issue of an authoritative international publication Advances in Geo-Energy Research (Volume 12, Issue 1, 2024) an article was published, the authors of which were specialists from PM Industrial together with the St. Petersburg Mining University. Work entitled A novel integrated methodology for screening, assessment and ranking of promising oilfields for polymer floods represents a significant contribution to the development of enhanced oil recovery methods.
The authors emphasize that the developed methodology is a universal tool for rapid assessment of the prospects for using polymer flooding at various sites. This is especially relevant in the context of the deterioration of the structure of oil reserves and the growing need for effective technologies to enhance oil recovery.
As a result of scientific research, the influence of key factors on the success of polymer flooding was analyzed; reflects the historical evolution (expansion) of the boundaries of applicability of technology; the current actual limits of applicability were verified based on an analysis of experience in using the technology in extreme conditions; criteria for the applicability of polymer flooding have been established and our own comprehensive methodology for screening, selecting and ranking objects for the successful implementation of the technology has been developed.
Advances in Geo-Energy Research (AGER) is a prestigious international publication, included in the first quartile (Q1) in the Energy Engineering and Power Technology category. AGER is a platform for publishing cutting-edge scientific papers and analytical reviews in the field of geology and energy, covering a wide range of topics from hydrocarbon exploration and production to renewable energy.
